Customer Review: turbo tax delux Summary: 5 StarsAs in the past, this tax review is easy to use and has step by step instructions. I will continue to use Turbo Tax in the years to come.
Customer Review: Mess with a loyal customer = LOSE a loyal customer Summary: 1 StarsThis is our tenth (and last) year of using TT-Deluxe.
We initially chose it because it was simple to keep track of year-to-year depreciations on our rentals as well as easily handle stock-option transactions. It once even found a little known (now gone) tax credit for state sales tax (we have no state income tax). That was neat! So, we kept buying TT-Deluxe.
This year, I saw all of the negative reviews at Amazon (funny, over 300 a month ago, now only 53?) but bought it anyway. My wife did the taxes today, and was totally PO'd when I got home that I bought the wrong version. It seems that she went all the way through the return and realized it didn't ask questions about our rental property. She went back through it and couldn't find it anywhere. She ended up calling INTUIT, who told her she had to upgrade to the PREMIER version. She ended up paying nearly $40 for the upgrade to the package that cost less than that originally.
I still have the box from TT-D 2007. It is NEARLY IDENTICAL to the box for TT-D 2008. The same options and features in the "Which TT is right for you?". I even saw a post in the Amazon forums from INTUIT spin-doctor BOB MEIGHAN saying that whichever version you used for 07 would be fine for 08. I would say that BM owes me $40 and an apology for my wife.
He pulled a similar stunt with Quicken 2009. He sent out a letter saying that everyone with Q2006 must upgrade to continue using all features. But even then it turns out that if you buy the SAME version you have been using for years (we have used Quicken since before Windows 3.0) you are going to pay AGAIN for the "upgrade" version that you really need.
Don't jack with your loyal customers, Bob. In this tough economy, you should be giving us loyalty discounts, not slimy sales tricks. But you are stimulating the economy in your own way. You are strengthening your competition by sending new customers their way.
Sometimes, change is a good thing. Bye-bye INTUIT!
Customer Review: Garbage! Summary: 1 StarsJust spent part of a day trying to load this to no avail. My computer skills may be "limited" but I ran TT Basic ok for the last ten years or so. Not this time. Customer help is laughable.
Tax time, especially in this year of fiscal chaos, rip-off "stimuli", corporate piracy, and administration tax-dodgers, is not my idea of fun a anyway...but this POS just put the cherry on top.
My taxes are a little different this year, which I why I went with the "Deluxe" (!) Looks like I will just have to sharpen up some pencils and go back to the old way of doing things.
Thanks for NOTHING, Turbo Tax!
Customer Review: Best tax software Summary: 5 StarsI have used Turbo Tax Deluxe for several years. It only gets better. I can handle even more complex returns and deductions. With online updates, I can get the latest information.
