Software Reviews of Quicken Home Inventory Manager

Customer Review: Won't work with 64 Bit OS
Summary: 1 Stars

I love Quicken but Intuit should be ashamed to offer a program without telling you it will not work on a 64 Bit OS. And since I upgraded to Quicken 2010, which does not include the inventory manager, how am I supposed to access my file? Outrageous of Intuit not to fully support its products.

Customer Review: Won't Work on Windows 7
Summary: 1 Stars

Purchased Quicken Home Inventory Manager. It installs on Windows 7 but won't run. Quicken says it is not supported on Windows 7 and there are no plans to make it run on Windows 7. Now I've lost ten years of inventory data.

Customer Review: Quicken Home Inventory Manager
Summary: 1 Stars

I am unhappy that Quicken Home Inventory Manager does not allow me to input my inventory from an Excel work sheet. Besides that the program is fine, but in order to use it I would have to type in over 1,500 individual items rather that just import them. Not good!

Customer Review: So very disgusted with it
Summary: 1 Stars

All the negative reviews are dead on the mark. The positive ones are incomprehensible.

This Intuit home inventory program is a complete disappointment compared to the classic. Don't waste your money.

Had trouble with the upgrade. It is slow. Most troubling: No way to create a report on a specific room or category, such as a CD or DVD collection. You can only create a PDF file of the entire inventory -- mine is nearly 800 pages long, and that's without photos, and sometimes the computer freezes while trying to compile the report.

Not surprisingly, tech support is poor -- obviously outsourced, judging by the stilted wording in responses to e-mailed questions. And, as others have noted, the responses sometimes show the tech is not comprehending the question.

No way to convert the database into any other format. My many hours of creating the inventory are now locked into the Intuit product because I don't have the time to re-create it in another program, and I've been hesitant to spend any more time adding to it.

Customer Review: Disappointing for long-time Quicken users
Summary: 1 Stars

I purchased this after the classic (included in quicken) was no longer supported. This is the most frustrating software I own, but don't want to switch because it is connected to Quicken. Pros: I add a transaction in Quicken and from the menu, can open QHIM. It asks if I want to add the item to QHIM and then I edit the inventory data. That's a very useful tool and the main reason I'm sticking with QHIM, hoping they improve it soon. Cons: The support online stinks. Quicken lets you attach a PDF receipt, but QHIM won't accept PDFs and makes you attach a jpg or other image file. Visually it is not the quality of Quicken; very amateur looking and not enjoyable to use. Nowhere on the website does it talk about the version they are on or list any available updates. They currently say QHIM 2008, but it's not any different from what I bought 2 years ago.
I'll continue to use it for now, but I'm looking for a replacement if they don't upgrade the quality of the software.
