Customer Review: 2009 Online Banking Finally Improved
Summary: 3 Stars

Finally, close to a year later, the QB team has fixed the online banking feature. They did this by allowing users to use the online banking feature the way it used to be before they 'fixed' it last year. This was a classic "New Coke", "Old Coke" marketing debacle (for those that remember that "Edsel". For those that were used to the old way, its back. You simply set it up to work as it did with a simple change in Preferences / Checkbook.

For those new to QB or online banking, you have a choice. I've used both the "old" and the "new" process extensively and recommend the "old" process. Its faster and more intuitive.

NOT USING ONLINE BANKING WITHIN QUICKBOOKS? I think all organizations (profit or not for profit)have income (sales, donations) and expenses. These typically go through a checking account, savings account and credit card. If you aren't using online banking then the process is manual to get these transactions into QB. It saves a great deal of time and reduces errors. Food for thought.

INTUIT - THEY DON'T TALK WITH EACH OTHER. I've used Quicken and Quickbooks since January 1994. I'm also a heavy user of the feature sets. In other words, I use all or most of the most complex features that are available. Having said that, it is very apparent to me that Intuit does a poor job of cross fertilization of features between the two products. The two product teams (QB and Quicken) apparently don't talk. Not invented here seems to be in place. I will share only one example, but there are many. In Quicken, there is a feature to attach a note to a transaction so you can remember details about it. You can also scan and attach an invoice, receipt or deposit slip to a transaction. There are a number of useful features in Quicken that are not avaiable in QB. The codes already written, so I wonder why the QB team doesn't use it? NIH?

Customer Review: DISASTER! Wish I had read reviews first before upgrading
Summary: 1 Stars

I have used Quicken products with mixed results over the years and had finally settled into using the basic version(version 2007). Just changed jobs and wanted to track my 403b accounts so upgraded to Quicken Deluxe 2009. Nothing works, cannot even register the upgrade. Existing, functional online account transactions are now hit and miss. Online support is a joke--chat won't connect saying that I don't have an internet connection. However, the online shopping link is certainly functional at the Intuit website. Forget it. I'm downloading MS Money, and if it correctly imports my existing registers I am done with Quicken.Quicken Deluxe 2009

Customer Review: Quicken Deluxe 2009 is just fine
Summary: 5 Stars

Good price, good service; exactly as I expected for the product. Timely shipping. All good.

Customer Review: Doesn't transfer from MS Money correctly
Summary: 3 Stars

I bought this because MS is no longer going to support Money. I was told online that they had a tool to transfer all my transactions quickly. What a crock. After following the provided instructions using money 2005, then 2008 Plus Deluxe, the "tool" still gave me an error "same category name, try another name". So after chating with "support" for a few minutes, they determined that I should just download Quicken 2004 and use it to import my money files. So, after being disconnected from the server on the first download, I got it the second time and followed the given instructions. After 5 or 6 hours I had all my accounts transferred over. Only to find that most of the history on them wash completely mixed up, and that all of my credit card, checking, savings, and assets, were all under cash accounts. I guess I will have to just re-enter 15 accounts of transactions for the last 6 years.

I would say unless you have little data stored, or you have an a lot of time on your hands, you may wanna stick with Money or what you have until Quicken can get their act together.

Software wise, if you were new to computer finance programs, it would be a great program. It was a standard install, no problems on Vista X64. Runs smooth and has a small foot print.

Customer Review: A Necessary Upgrade
Summary: 4 Stars

Had to upgrade to get continued support. No problems in upgrade, imported my files without issue even though I'm on Vista. Nice.
