Software Reviews of Quicken Deluxe 2009 [OLD VERSION]Customer Review: Non-transferable from MS Money Plus Deluxe Summary: 3 StarsI had not been able to transfer data from MS Money Plus Deluxe. I tossed the program to the trash.
I will stick to MS Money as long as I can.
Customer Review: Piss Poor Product Summary: 1 StarsI switched over to Quicken because I was notified that Microsoft Money was no longer supported. What a shame because I loved that program. So I went and purchased this piece of crap program. Why is it a piece of crap you ask?
1.) Too many damn bells and whistles. This program has so many redundant features it is ridiculous.
2.) There is no way to update a bill or if there is it is not obvious to me.
3.) Quicken 2009 will stop working for no reason. There is this transaction that shuts down the program. I tried to delete it but it just keeps coming back. The error popout is Quicken launcher has stopped working and boom it shuts down.
4.) NO CUSTOMER SUPPORT!!!!
Quicken should take a differrent approach to ddeveloping software. they should strip this program down to the bare essential and
make it work.
Did they even test this product before shipping it?
Do yourself a favor and save yourself some money, don't purchase this piece of crap software.
Customer Review: MS Money users avoid RUN Summary: 1 StarsMicrosoft is discontinuing MS money and Intuit wants our business. I dnloaded this software and after install found out it will not open .OFX files from banks and discontinued qif files for checking and savings accounts. Go figure. Will only import .QFX files. .OFX is an industry standard and to use the .QFX file banks have to pay intuit to use them. If you plan on using this make sure your bank or financial institution will support Quicken dnloads. My small town bank does not and only will dnload in .ofx or qif, so I have a 22.00 lesson in checking before buying. isnt the first 20.00 i lost on useless software.
Customer Review: 2009 Online Banking Finally Improved Summary: 3 StarsFinally, close to a year later, the QB team has fixed the online banking feature. They did this by allowing users to use the online banking feature the way it used to be before they 'fixed' it last year. This was a classic "New Coke", "Old Coke" marketing debacle (for those that remember that "Edsel". For those that were used to the old way, its back. You simply set it up to work as it did with a simple change in Preferences / Checkbook.
For those new to QB or online banking, you have a choice. I've used both the "old" and the "new" process extensively and recommend the "old" process. Its faster and more intuitive.
NOT USING ONLINE BANKING WITHIN QUICKBOOKS? I think all organizations (profit or not for profit)have income (sales, donations) and expenses. These typically go through a checking account, savings account and credit card. If you aren't using online banking then the process is manual to get these transactions into QB. It saves a great deal of time and reduces errors. Food for thought.
INTUIT - THEY DON'T TALK WITH EACH OTHER. I've used Quicken and Quickbooks since January 1994. I'm also a heavy user of the feature sets. In other words, I use all or most of the most complex features that are available. Having said that, it is very apparent to me that Intuit does a poor job of cross fertilization of features between the two products. The two product teams (QB and Quicken) apparently don't talk. Not invented here seems to be in place. I will share only one example, but there are many. In Quicken, there is a feature to attach a note to a transaction so you can remember details about it. You can also scan and attach an invoice, receipt or deposit slip to a transaction. There are a number of useful features in Quicken that are not avaiable in QB. The codes already written, so I wonder why the QB team doesn't use it? NIH?
Customer Review: DISASTER! Wish I had read reviews first before upgrading Summary: 1 StarsI have used Quicken products with mixed results over the years and had finally settled into using the basic version(version 2007). Just changed jobs and wanted to track my 403b accounts so upgraded to Quicken Deluxe 2009. Nothing works, cannot even register the upgrade. Existing, functional online account transactions are now hit and miss. Online support is a joke--chat won't connect saying that I don't have an internet connection. However, the online shopping link is certainly functional at the Intuit website. Forget it. I'm downloading MS Money, and if it correctly imports my existing registers I am done with Quicken.Quicken Deluxe 2009
