Software Reviews of QuickBooks Pro 2009 [OLD VERSION]

Customer Review: Out Of USA Support
Summary: 1 Stars

Everytime I've had to call for support I get connected to Countries that speak broken english. The Philippines and India are the counties that handle the support. What's wrong with keeping support in the USA for those using the product in the USA.

Customer Review: quick books works well
Summary: 5 Stars

i have used quickbooks for twelve years. it work well for me. i have a service business with 15 to 20 employee i highly recommend it.

Customer Review: QuickBooks is the best!!!
Summary: 5 Stars

Quickbooks is my favorite software for Small Business accounting. Simple and doesn't need a deep knowledge in accounting to be able to use it. I recommend it to small business owners.

Customer Review: Serious Problem - Can't Open Company File
Summary: 1 Stars

If you are running a version older than 2009, then stay put. I upgraded from 2007 to 2009 and regret it. 2009 has a nagging problem; THE COMPANY FILE WILL NOT OPEN. When this happens you call support and they roll the dice to come up with a fix. I've logged this case 4 times in 7 days. Each time, the fix was different. I told them there is a problem that needs to be addressed with their product planners/developers, whoever. I was told to wait for QB 2010. What? When it comes to QB 2009, let it go. Its no good when you can't get to your company file.

Customer Review: Quickbooks is a necessary evil for my business
Summary: 2 Stars

We started with Quickbooks back in 2003 and have suffered with it ever since. We have never upgraded versions on our own behalf... Quickbooks stops syncing with your bank statements after 3 years. Not that it actually stops working due to technical issues, but they make it stop working to force you to buy the new version. Of course it doesn't give you an error message saying that... It just gives you a cryptic error message that your bank is not supported. That makes you waste your time by calling your bank to figure out why their service isn't working.

There is not a single new feature in 2009 that we wanted or needed over the 2006 version. They just re-arrange everything and make you re-learn it. We would have gladly just paid to keep using the 2006 version. Instead, you have to install the new version which seems to take forever. Then, when you think you're finally done and you go to register it, it makes you call an 800 number to talk to some person in India who puts you on hold and tries to up sell you. It took about 20 minutes on the phone to finally get the "activation code".

Being a Mac user, I tried the 2009 Mac version first thinking that would be a nice way to go. After wasting two full days to get it working I finally realized that it just wasn't feasible. They make you upgrade to the latest PC version, export the mac version of the database, and then import it into the mac version... Why they didn't build the importer into the Mac version, I don't know... The mac version was missing critical features that we couldn't live without. As someone who has ~500 credit card transactions per month, we determined that it took 14 seconds to add each transaction. We don't have 2 hours per month to dedicate to mindlessly clicking my mouse, so we had to go to the PC version with the Add Multiple feature...

If you are selecting a new accounting package, I would choose a different one. Once you've selected Quickbooks it is hard to change mid-stream.
