Software Reviews of QuickBooks Pro 2009 [OLD VERSION]Customer Review: Regrets...I have a few.. Summary: 2 StarsI finally upgraded from 2005 3 user to 2009 3 user as part of a system wide upgrade. 2005 was working perfectly. I use the 3 user version networked. I was seduced by the glowing reports, email options, multicurrency support and the company snapshot "being worth the price of the upgrade".
On the plus side the instant messenger within Q books is a nice touch. The company snapshot is useful but nothing earth shattering. The multicurrency support needs work to be useful.
Regrets...this version is SLOOOWW. Slow to load, slow to back up and slow to search. The computer memory is 3GB on a 2 Ghz machine with windows XP professional. It constantly wants to go on the internet. When it works, however, it is faster than 2005.
Regrets.. the program hangs up at least twice per day! In multiuser mode, if another user loads Qbooks first then I cannot access the database file. When using the files simultaneously, I would mysteriously get booted out and then cannot reopen the file and my computer(server) is hosting the data.
Regrets..the backup file is HUGE and takes a year to back up with quick verification. Easily twice the size of 2005 with same data. On full verification it takes 2 years then invariably generates a fault and you have to start over!
Regrets... I now have to buy another version to export files to my accountant...this was not so with 2005.
Regrets...There is now too much data to re-enter to go back to 2005 unless I take 2 weeks off work and manually re-enter 4 months of data...
Regrets...I intended to upgrade my entire system to windows 7 with an entirely new computer system only to learn that 2009 which I recently bought, is not compatible with windows 7 and I will have to buy 2010 at the same price as someone who never bought 2009! I feel trapped and duped!
Regrets....I should have stayed with 2005.
Regrets.. "If it isn't broke...don't fix it", especially with financial data!

QB Pro is a great accounting program but it takes a while to learn all the featuresfor non-accounting types. I had QB Basic and this is much more advanced. Upside is you get much more in terms of reports and analysis
Customer Review: Registration Hassels Summary: 2 StarsI agree with the hassels on trying to register this product. Once you have installed everything and you think you are ready to use the product you just purchased, you have to call and go through about 30 minutes of marketing questions just to get the "validation code" to be able to use it. If we wanted to use the bells & whistles that apparently "pop-up" during the course of using the product, we would click on it. Basically they are getting a soliciting call by YOU being forced to call them.
Customer Review: Quickbooks is shady.... Summary: 1 Stars I paid for the 2009 version right here on Amazon, installed it and for a month no problems. Then I get a pop up stating that I must register the software before continuing. No warning, nothing, at that point Quickbooks denied access to the software that I fully paid for. In order to register you have to call and provide all of your contact information (phone , name, address, email address) its not just entering a number off of the box, you cannot opt out of this. After 15 minutes, then you get your validation code. I think it is wrong to require this and not inform the user up front. I paid for this software, I didn't get a trial version, or a shareware version. I was denied access to something I paid for, and 30 days after using it to boot, after I invested the time of entering all of the information and setting it up. That's just plain wrong. Never again will I buy QuickBooks.
Customer Review: Buggy Summary: 2 Stars
Using this for a small business, approx 3 employees, together with the payroll function. Some of the navigation is certainly not intuitive and you have to search through many different screens to find what you need unless it's a completely standard task.
My main issue is that it's very buggy. Even with all patches applied on a freshly built machine I get consistent crashes. Many times when loading. Other times when in the middle of a task the app will just vaporise with no trace or error message.
